2,700 refugees enter Slovenia from Croatia on Saturday

Around 2,700 refugees entered Slovenia from Croatia on Saturday, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported.

This came after Hungary on Friday night sealed its borders with Croatia to prevent refugees from entering the country from Croatia.

The 2,700 refugees being admitted to Slovenia is a second refugee wave reaching the country in a month, according to STA.

Most of the refugees arrived by train from the Croatian town of Tovarnik near the border with Serbia, the report said.

The refugees will be registered at reception centres along the border before they are taken on to the accommodation facility in Sentilj on the border with Austria.

After Hungary closed border with Croatia Friday midnight, Slovenia expects the flow of refugees taking the Balkan route to Western Europe to be redirected. Thousands of refugees per day may start entering the country, the STA report predicted.
