Survey: One third of Russian teens addicted to social networks

More than one third of Russian schoolchildren aged 14-15 are addicted to social networks and can check such websites all night long, the head of the National Education Quality Research project said, quoting a new survey.

Research among more than 45,000 schoolchildren was conducted at more than 700 schools in 63 Russian regions in October.

"The survey showed the overwhelming majority of schoolchildren (95-96%) had at least one or several social media accounts," Sergey Stanchenko said. "More than one third of schoolchildren said they were ready to surf social networks all night long."

Only two percent of schoolchildren said they did not use computers or smartphones to access the Internet.
