Central African Republic: Residents of capital Bangui face chronic water shortages

 The Central African Republic's dry season is coming to an end and recent heavy rains over the capital Bangui led to power and water shortages for 10 days.

But for hundreds of thousands of the city's residents, this was nothing new. 

The company that supplies running water to Bangui was created in 1970, when it served some 100,000 people.

 The city's population has since grown to 1.5 million people, very few of whom have daily access to running water....

Alors que la saison sèche touche à sa fin et que les premiers orages s'abattent sur la capitale centrafricaine, une panne de courant historique a privé la capitale d'eau et d'électricité pendant 10 jours. Mais pour beaucoup, cela n'a rien changé. 

La société qui fournit l'eau courante à Bangui a été créée en 1970, lorsqu'elle desservait quelque 100 000 personnes. 

Depuis, la ville s'est agrandie et compte désormais 1,5 million d'habitants, dont très peu ont un accès quotidien à l'eau courante.
