Turkish politician had right to deny Armenia genocide (European Court of Human Rights)

The European Court of Human Rights ruled on Thursday that a Turkish politician should not have been prosecuted for denying that the mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turkey in 1915 was a genocide.

Armenia Leads UN Effort to Designate Dec. 9 International Genocide Commemoration Day

UNITED NATIONS—The Mission of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations lead an effort for the body’s General Assembly to pass resolution Friday proclaiming December 9 as the annual “International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.” The resolution, adopted by consensus, had the support of over 80 member countries, including the United States.

Latin American Parliament Recognizes Armenian Genocide

The Latin American Parliament (Parlatino) approved on Friday July 31 a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide. The Panama-based body that was created in 1964 with the Declaration of Lima, and is composed by the National Congresses and Legislative Assemblies of all Iberoamerica.

Turkey recalls ambassador to Brazil over ‘genocide’ legislation

Turkey has recalled its ambassador to Brazil, Hüseyin Diriöz, for “consultations” after the Latin American country’s Senate passed legislation recognizing the killing of Ottoman Armenians in 1915 as genocide, a Foreign Ministry statement said late on June 8.

Armenia’s Minorities Urge World to Recognize genocide of Armenians, Greeks and Assyrians

YEREVAN—Representatives of ethnic minorities living in Armenia issued a united statement this week in an efforts to call the attention of the world to the Armenian Genocide, which still awaits justice one hundred years later. The groups have thus addressed a message to the leaders of all the UN member states.
