Yemen: 3.3 million people in need of critical aid in besieged Taiz, warns UN health agency

UN,  21 October 2015 – The top United Nations health official in Yemen is appealing for unrestricted access to Taiz, where “innocent lives are at risk” in the besieged highland city where more than 3.3 million people are in critical need of health assistance, safe drinking water, food and fuel.

Half of refugees traumatised (German psychotherapists)

At least half of the refugees who have come to Germany have mental health problems because of trauma suffered in war or during their dangerous escapes, said the chamber of psychotherapists Wednesday.

UN chief urges greater efforts to improve health and well-being of indigenous peoples

 UN, 9 August 2015 – United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on the international community to commit to do more to improve the health and well-being of indigenous peoples, who face a wide range of challenges from inadequate sanitation and housing to high rates of diabetes, drug and alcohol abuse.
