The Pentagon forgot about the Day of Victory

Pentagon spokesman Peter cook on Monday, may 9, during a traditional briefing admitted that he forgot about the 71-th anniversary of the victory over Germany in World war II. It is reported RIA Novosti.

But I saw what in the world were celebrating,” said he, without becoming, however, to congratulate someone on a holiday.

In the US, UK and most countries in Western Europe, the end of the Second world war in Europe is celebrated on may 8 — the day the surrender of Germany and is called Victory Day in Europe. In Russia Victory Day because of time zone differences is celebrated on 9 may.

On may 8 in new York, about 300 people took part in March “Immortal regiment”. The action in new York took place for the second year in a row. The route went along the waterfront of the Hudson river to the memorial to soldiers fallen in world war II in battery Park, in lower part of Manhattan. Metropolis residents and tourists distributed more than 10 thousand George’s ribbons.
