US Closes Embassy, Consulates in Turkey After Russian Ambassador Assassination

The United States has closed its embassy and consulates in Turkey amid a dangerous security situation in Ankara, the embassy said Tuesday, a day after Russian ambassador to the country was killed.


On Monday, Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov was killed by a gunman at an art gallery exhibition opening in Ankara.

Three other people were also injured in the attack.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called the incident an act of terrorism.
