South Korean President Park Geun-hye and visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed Monday to speed up talks on Japan's wartime sex slavery of Korean women to reach an agreement on the issue at an earliest possible date, Park's office said.

Japan's government may halt funds for UNESCO over a UN decision on including documents of the Nanjing massacre.

Yoshihide Suga, Japan's chief cabinet secretary, described on Tuesday the decision as biased and "problematic" and criticised UNESCO for going ahead despite the conflicting views of Japan and China.

Thousands of Syrian refugees arrive in Germany

The German state of Bavaria has said 2,000 of up to 7,000 Syrian refugees expected in the country today had arrived on special trains in Munich.
