Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has refused to comment on the statement by French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault that Paris plans to sue Russia at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged war crimes committed in Syria.
"I think you’d better ask the foreign ministry to comment on Mr. Ayrault’s statement," he told journalists.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault told France Inter radio on Monday that the events of the past few weeks around Aleppo should be qualified as war crimes and investigated by the International Criminal Court with punishing those responsible, with France pointing the finger of blame at Syria and Russia.
Earlier in the day the Kremlin confirmed that Vladimir Putin has cancelled his official visit to France.
