Jordan calls for more aid to provide services to Syrian refugees
Jordan on Tuesday called for more aid to provide services to the Syrian refugees in the Kingdom, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The remarks were made by Prime Minister Hani Mulki at a meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, where the premier reviewed pressure on Jordan due to hosting more than 1.3 million Syria refugees.

The premier also reviewed Jordan's needs in various areas, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards Jordan.

He added that Jordan opened its borders and provided all humanitarian services to the Syrians on behalf of the international community, saying it was difficult to continue shouldering more burdens.

The exodus of refugees, he said, placed heavy pressure on all sectors including economy, energy, health, water and other sectors.

He said Jordan hoped for the restoration of stability and security in Syria.

The UN official voiced appreciation for Jordan's efforts and urged the donor community and organization to increase support to Jordan to ensure continued supply of aid to the refugees.

He added that UNHCR will continue to support Jordan and its role in this regard.
