Israel's Reaction to UNESCO Jerusalem Resolution 'Overly Emotional'

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov called the Israeli reaction on a UNESCO resolution dismissing the ties of the Jewish people to the Temple Mount "overly emotional."


On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recalled on Wednesday country's ambassador to UNESCO for consultations in protest the resolution.

"We felt that that the Israelis’ emotions were a little bit over the top in this issue … We clarified our approaches to the Israeli colleagues on this issue, we explained why we voted for these resolutions … and called on them to be constructive in the future in discussing these issues," Gatilov told reporters.
