UN voices renewed alarm at European border restrictions as stranded refugees and migrants protest
UN, 24 November 2015 – Just days after warning that European border restrictions based on national profiling are endangering refugees and migrants, especially children, the United Nations refugee agency said today that 1,000 people are already stuck at crossing points, with 60 of them on hunger strike and 11 reported to have stitched up their mouths in protest.

European restrictions on refugees and migrant movements after last week’s terrorist attacks in Paris, including national profiling, are endangering many, especially children, as the bite of winter takes hold, United Nations agencies warned today, calling on Governments to provide more reception centres and decent accommodation.

UN urges Europe to formulate collective response to migrant crisis
With the number of migrants fleeing to Europe the violence in their countries of origin continuing to increase, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, António Guterres, Wednesday urged the European Union to speed up the formulation of an adequate collective response to this unprecedented crisis.

Europe's response to migrant crisis is not working, warns UN rights expert
UN, 25 August 2015 – The European Union should establish a human rights-based, coherent and comprehensive migration policy which makes mobility its central asset, a United Nations expert today advocated, assuring is the only way in which the EU can reclaim its border, effectively combat smuggling and empower migrants.
